1st Battalion of Marines, 1775

1st Marine Batttalion.

1st Marine Battalion.
British Marines were a part of the relief column at Lexington and Concord, served at Bunker Hill, Fort Washington, the relief of Quebec and the siege of Newport. All of the Regiment of Marines was recalled to the Home Fleet in March, 1778. Thereafter, regular line regiments provided marine support to Royal Navy in American waters.
The Marine uniform consisted of red jacket with white facings. John Mollo in his book "Uniforms of the American Revolution" does not mention the existence of laces.
Don Troiani and other researchers and artists, however, show white "bastion" ended laces, arranged individually.
Probably the battalions of Marines who served in North America did not wear his colours. However, the Marine corps had the King’s and regimental colours. At the time, the regimental flag was white with an anchor in the middle.
My 1st Marines battalion is made up of 24 figures (16 figures of centre companies, 4 of Grenadiers and 4 of Light Infantry).
Grenadiers and Light Infantry figures will be detached with those of other units to form Grenadiers and Light Infantry combined Battalions.

Don Troiani e altri ricercatori e artisti, invece, mostrano alamari bianchi a “bastione”, disposti singolarmente.

14th Massachusetts Continental Regt. 1777

14th Massachusetts.

14th Massachusetts.
The 14th Massachusetts Continental Regt. fought at Saratoga, in defense of Philadelphia, and at Monmouth Court House. It was organized in spring 1777 at Boston to consist of 8 companies from Plymouth, Bristol, Barnstable, Suffolk, Cumberland and Worcester Counties. It was disbanded January 1, 1781 at West Point, New York.
The "Independent Chronicle" of October 22, 1778 reported a deserter clad in a “dark brown regimental coat, faced with light blue, reddish-brown waistcoat, peach blossom trousers”. In this instance trousers might mean gaiter-trousers or the straight-leg or “stovepipe” variety. Both are known to have been worn among many units.
My 14th Massachusetts is made up of 16 figures.

1/95th Regiment of Foot (Rifle), 1815

Riflemen of the 95th advancing at trail.

The 95th Rifles by Chris Collingwood.
Riflemen of the 95th skirmishing.
The First Battalion of the 95th Regiment of Foot (Rifle) belonged to the Major General Kempt’s 8th British Brigade (Lieutenant General Picton’s 5th British Division).
The 95th was a highly-trained regiment of expert marksmen and skirmishers.
In 1802 the Experimental Corps of Riflemen was brought into the Line as 95th (Rifle) Regiment.
The regiment fought at Buenos Aires (1806), Copenhagen, Vimiero (1808).
It returned to the Peninsula in May 1809, when it formed part of Crauford’s Brigade, which later became the famous Light Division.
The 1/95th fought with Wellington in all the Peninsular battles until 1814 when it moved to northern Holland. It then went to Belgium and took part in the Waterloo campaign, later marching on Paris.
The 95th wore the fabled “rifle green” uniform. The regiment were armed with the “Baker” rifle and sword-bayonet.
The unit is represented by 8 figures advancing with rifle at trail.
Painting Luca Onesti (Strategia Nova).

Bunker Hill & AWI project

Bunker Hill by Don Troiani

The project to re-fight the battle of Bunker Hill and the American War of Independence is a good point. The British order of battle, is almost complete. I also added other British units, useful to replay battles of the war.
For Americans, I organized differently. American troops at Bunker Hill were almost all of the militia and without uniforms, but I decided to create a number of regiments that fought in various stages of the war, choosing those with the most interesting uniform or who have fought more battles.
All the pieces have been painted by the talented Luca Onesti (Strategianova).
