Waterloo, June 18, 1815 - June 18, 2014

Today is the 199th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

On June 18, 1815, was fought the battle of Waterloo.

The rain fell for most of the 17th of June, making the ground muddy.

The mud prevented Napoleon to attack the Anglo-Allied in the early morning.

In our day, in Rome, it's raining a lot for many days!!!

Oggi è il 199° anniversario della battaglia di Waterloo.

Il 18 giugno 1815, si combatteva la battaglia di Waterloo.

La pioggia cadde per buona parte del 17 giugno, rendendo il terreno fangoso.

Il fango impedì a Napoleone di attaccare gli anglo-alleati al mattino presto.

Ai giorni nostri, a Roma, sta piovendo moltissimo da molti giorni!!!

69th Regiment of Foot - Grenadier & Centre Companies.

The Second Battalion of the 69th Infantry Regiment belonged to the 5th Brigade of the British Major-General C. Halkett (3^rd Alten Division - Prince of Orange 1^st Corps).

The 69th arrived at Quatre Bras in the afternoon of June 16.

A wrong order of the inexperienced Prince of Orange, prevented the regiment to form the "square" to reject a charge of French cuirassiers.

The regiment was literally torn to pieces by the 11th Cuirassiers while it was changing formation.

The ensign Duncan Keith was killed and the king’colour was taken by the French cuirassier Lami.

Only two companies rejected the cuirassiers, while others took refuge in the woods of Bossu.

The regimental flag is green, as the facings.

The unit is represented by 16 figures, including 4 of 4 light infantry and grenadiers.

Il II battaglione del 69° reggimento di fanteria apparteneva alla 5° Brigata britannica del maggior generale C. Halkett (Divisione “Alten” - I Corpo del principe d’Orange).

Il 69° arrivò a Quatre Bras nel pomeriggio del 16 giugno.

Un ordine sbagliato dell’inesperto principe d’Orange impedì al reggimento di formare il “quadrato” per respingere una carica dei corazzieri francesi.

Il reggimento fu letteralmente fatto a pezzi dall’11° Corazzieri mentre stava cambiando formazione.

Il porta bandiera Duncan Keith fu ucciso e la bandiera del re fu presa dal corazziere francese Lami.

Solo due compagnie respinsero i corazzieri, mentre le altre si rifugiarono nel bosco di Bossu.

La bandiera reggimentale è verde, come le mostreggiature.

L’unità è rappresentata da 16 figure, di cui 4 di fanti leggeri e 4 di granatieri.

33rd Regiment of Foot, Light Company.

The 33rd Regiment of Foot (1st York West Riding) belonged to the British 5th Brigade (Major-General C. Halkett). The regiment was composed of a single battalion.

The unit was part of the 3rd British Infantry Division of Sir Charles von Alten (1st Corps).

The regiment has typical red facings. The laces are in the form of "bastion".

The regimental flag is white with a red cross, as for all the regiments with red or white facings.

The unit is represented by 16 miniature figures, including 4 of light infantry and 4 of grenadiers.

Il 33° reggimento di fanteria (1° York West Riding) apparteneva alla 5° Brigata britannica (maggior generale C. Halkett). Il reggimento era composto da un unico battaglione.

L’unità faceva parte della 3° Divisione di Fanteria britannica di sir Charles von Alten (I Corpo).

Il reggimento porta caratteristiche mostreggiature rosse e alamari a forma di “bastione”.

La bandiera reggimentale è bianca con croce rossa, come per tutti i reggimenti con mostreggiature rosse o bianche.

L’unità in miniatura è rappresentata da 16 figure, di cui 4 di fanti leggeri e 4 di granatieri.

New Quatre Bras Project - Nuovo progetto Quatre Bras

The Duke of Wellington and the first group of miniatures
for the Quatre Bras project.

I'm doing the Anglo-allied army of the Duke of Wellington who fought the battle of Quatre Bras, June 16, 1815, a prelude to the more famous Battle of Waterloo.

The idea is to recreate (with the 28 mm) the most representative units of the Anglo-allied and French armies with the help of friends Federico (French) and Daniel (British).

The project aims to re fight Quatre Bras at 1:100 or 1:125 scale (1 figure = 100-125 real men).

My collection for now, includes the units in the list below.

Sto realizzando l’esercito anglo-alleato del Duca di Wellington che ha combattuto la battaglia di Quatre Bras, il 16 giugno 1815, preludio alla ben più famosa battaglia di Waterloo.

L’idea è quella di ricreare in 28 mm le unità più rappresentative dell’armata anglo-alleata e quella francese in collaborazione con gli amici Federico (francesi) e Daniele (britannici).

Il progetto prevede di ricombattere Quatre Bras in scala 1:100 o 1:125 circa (1 figura = 100-125 uomini reali).

La mia collezione, per ora, comprende le unità dell’elenco sottostante.
