These below are some of the books I've bought recently and recommend it highly to anyone interested in the history and wargame:

"Catastrophe 1914 - Europe goes to war" by Max Hastings (795 pages).

An unrivaled and exciting description of the first terrible year of the great war 14/18 (from the attack in Sarajevo to the Christmas truce).

The Austro-Hungarian army and the British general French do not make us a great figure.

"The army of the kingdom of Naples (1806-15) Vol. 1: Infantry" by Luca Cristini and Claudio Fernandez (79 pages).

Overview concise but comprehensive line infantry, light and Guard Murat. Contains 16 color illustrations of soldiers in uniform (captions and comments to the tables in English).

"Across a Deadly Field - Regimental Rules for Civil War Battles" wargame rules by John Hill (144 pages).

New rules of the Osprey Publishing in the English language to replay the American Civil War regimental level.

Sounds interesting and allows you to deploy individual regiments formed from 4, 6 or 12 figures in 10, 15 or 28 mm.

Questi di seguito, sono alcuni dei libri che ho acquistato recentemente e che raccomando fortemente a chiunque sia interessato alla storia e al wargame:

“Catastrofe 1914 - l'Europa in guerra” di Max Hastings (795 pagine).

Descrive in modo impareggiabile ed appassionante, il primo terribile anno della grande guerra 14/18 (dall’attentato di Sarajevo alla tregua di Natale).

L’esercito austro-ungarico e il generale britannico French non ci fanno una gran figura.

“L’esercito del regno di Napoli (1806-15) Vol. 1: la fanteria” di Luca Cristini e Claudio Fernandez (79 pagine).

Panoramica sintetica, ma completa sulla fanteria di linea, leggera e della Guardia di Murat. Contiene 16 illustrazioni a colori di soldati in uniforme (didascalie e commento alle tavole anche in lingua inglese).

Nuove regole della Osprey Publishing in lingua inglese per rigiocare la guerra civile americana a livello reggimentale.

Sembra interessante e consente di schierare singoli reggimenti formati da 4, 6 o 12 figure in 10, 15 o 28 mm.

F. G. Hourtouille: “The passage of the Berezina” - F. G. Hourtouille: “Il passaggio della Beresina”

Ai primi di agosto ho acquistato il libro “Le passage de la Bérésina – Une victoire dans la déroute” di F. G. Hourtoulle e D. Grandilhon, con le stupente illustrazioni di André Jouineau.

Questo libro è l’ultimo volume di una serie pubblicata dalla casa editrice francese Histoire & Collections, sulle grandi battaglie di Napoleone.

Gli altri volumi parlano di Austerlitz (1805), Jena e Auerstadt (1806), Eylau e Freidland (1807), Wagram (1809), Borodino (1812) e Campagna di Francia (1814).

Ogni volume contiene una descrizione della campagna militare e delle battaglie, gli ordini di battaglia e le brevi biografie dei maggiori comandanti (soprattutto quelli francesi).

La grafica e la qualità della carta sono ottime, inoltre i libri sono corredati da decine e decine di illustrazioni a colori, sia dell’epoca, sia attuali. Le uniformi sono illustrate da magnifiche tavole a colori di André Jouineau.

“Le passage de la Bérésina” presenta le uniformi di tutti gli eserciti coinvolti nella campagna di Russia, compresi sassoni, austriaci, prussiani e napoletani.

Questo libro è l’ultimo al quale lo studioso, esperto dell’epoca napoleonica,  F. G. Hourtoulle ha lavorato prima della sua morte, avvenuta nel 2009.

Il libro è composto di 120 pagine, tutte a colori e è stampato in due versioni: lingua francese e lingua inglese.

Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti gli appassionati di questo periodo storico.

In early August I bought the book "Le passage de la Bérésina – Une victoire dans la déroute" by F. G. Hourtoulle and D. Grandilhon, with astonishing illustrations of André Jouineau.

This book is the latest volume in a series published by the French publishing house Histoire & Collections, the great battles of Napoleon.

The other volumes speak of Austerlitz (1805), Jena & Auerstadt (1806), Freidland & Eylau (1807), Wagram (1809), Borodino (1812) and the Campaign of France (1814).

Each volume contains a description of the campaign and battles, orders of battle and brief biographies of the major commanders (especially the French).

The graphics and the paper quality is excellent, also the books are accompanied by dozens of color illustrations, and at the time, both current. The uniforms are illustrated with magnificent color plates by André Jouineau.

"The passage of the Berezina" presents the uniforms of all armies involved in the campaign of Russia, including Saxon, Austrian, Prussian and Naples.

This book is the last in which the scholar, expert of the Napoleonic era, F. G. Hourtoulle worked before his death in 2009.

The book consists of 120 pages, full color and is printed in two versions: French and English.
I highly recommend it to all fans of this historical period.
